We’ve kept this juice light, fresh, and wonderfully cooling. Crisp cucumber brings hydration, while ginger adds a gentle zing without overpowering little tastebuds. It’s the perfect pick-me-up for kids after playtime and a refreshing reset for parents too. Packed with antioxidants and natural hydration, it’s a smart way to get fussy eaters sipping something green with a smile.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium cucumber, peeled and chopped

  • 1 small apple (sweet variety), cored and chopped

  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, peeled and grated (reduce for extra-sensitive palates)

  • Juice of ½ lime

  • 150ml cold water or coconut water

  • A few ice cubes (optional)

Directions

  • Place the cucumber, apple, ginger, lime juice, and water into a blender.
  • Blend until completely smooth.
  • Pour through a fine sieve or muslin cloth if your child prefers a smoother drink.
  • Serve immediately over ice for a crisp, cooling juice.

Key Notes

  • For fussy drinkers: Start with a very small pinch of ginger and gradually increase as your child gets used to the flavour.
  • Make it fun: Serve in colourful cups or with a funky straw to encourage little ones to sip.
  • Parent twist: Add a few fresh mint leaves for an extra burst of freshness.
  • Storage: Best served fresh but can be kept in the fridge for up to 12 hours in a sealed bottle.

Variation Tips

Citrus Boost – Add a splash of lemon or lime for extra freshness.

Sweeter Blend – Mix in apple juice to make it more appealing for kids and fussy eaters.

Mint Refresh – Pair with fresh mint leaves for a spa-inspired drink.

Smoothie Twist – Blend with pineapple or pear for a tropical upgrade.

Cooling Detox – Add celery or spinach for a green wellness version.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Too Much Ginger – Overdoing it makes the juice too spicy, which kids may dislike.

Skipping Sweet Balance – Without apple, pear, or citrus, it may taste too bland for some.

Using Bitter Cucumber Ends – Always cut off the ends to avoid a bitter aftertaste.

Serving Warm – This juice tastes best chilled or with ice for maximum refreshment.

Overpowering Additions – Strong flavours like lemon or herbs can drown out cucumber’s delicate freshness.
