We’ve given a little glow-up to the humble carrot juice. This zingy blend brings together naturally sweet carrots, juicy oranges, and a gentle kick of ginger for a refreshing drink that’s as nourishing as it is tasty. Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, which supports healthy eyes and skin, oranges provide a boost of vitamin C for the immune system, and ginger adds a warming note that aids digestion. Perfect for breakfast or as a bright afternoon pick-me-up.

Ingredients

  • 3 medium carrots, peeled and chopped

  • 2 large oranges, peeled

  • 1 small piece of fresh ginger (about 1cm), peeled

  • 200ml cold water (or coconut water for extra hydration)

  • Ice cubes, to serve

Directions

  • Place the carrots, oranges, ginger, and water into a blender or juicer.
  • Blend until smooth. If you prefer a thinner juice, strain through a fine sieve.
  • Pour into glasses over ice cubes.
  • Serve immediately while fresh and zingy.

Key Notes

  • For fussy little ones, start with less ginger and gradually increase as they get used to the flavour.
  • Add a splash of honey if your child prefers a sweeter taste.
  • Make it a fun activity — let kids watch the vibrant orange colour swirl as it blends.
  • For parents, try adding a squeeze of lime for a sharper, grown-up edge.

Variation Tips

Sweeter Blend – Add a splash of apple juice for kids or fussy eaters who prefer a naturally sweeter taste.

Milder Ginger – Use just a tiny slice of ginger for a gentle warmth instead of a spicy kick.

Citrus Swap – Try blood orange or mandarin for a different citrus twist.

Smoothie Style – Blend with a banana or mango for a thicker, creamy version.

Herbal Touch – Add a little turmeric root alongside ginger for an extra wellness boost.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Too Much Ginger – Strong ginger can make the juice spicy and overwhelming, especially for kids or sensitive taste buds.

Skipping Sweet Balance – Without enough carrot or orange, the juice can taste too sharp. Balance sweetness and tang carefully.

Over-juicing Carrots – Using too many carrots can make it taste earthy rather than refreshing.

Not Using Fresh Citrus – Bottled orange juice doesn’t deliver the same brightness; always use fresh oranges.

Serving Without Chilling – The refreshing effect is lost if it’s not served cold.
