Whip up this fresh and tasty no-bake apple nachos recipe for your little one. They’re bound to want to dive right in.

Ingredients

  • 2 large apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala for natural sweetness)
1 tsp cinnamon and brown sugar
2 tablespoons almond butter (or peanut butter, unsweetened and natural)
    1 tablespoon unsweetened shredded coconut
1 tablespoon mini dark chocolate chips (70% cocoa or higher for lower sugar)
1 tablespoon chopped nuts (optional; choose kid-friendly ones like almonds or peanuts)
1 teaspoon chia seeds or hemp hearts (optional, for a nutritional boost)

Directions

  • Prepare the apples: Wash and core the apples. Slice them thinly into rounds or wedges and toss them in the cinnamon sugar. Arrange the slices on a plate or a large serving dish, overlapping slightly for a nacho-style presentation.
  • Warm the nut butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, warm the almond or peanut butter for about 10–15 seconds to make it easier to drizzle. Stir well.
  • Assemble the nachos: Drizzle the warmed nut butter evenly over the apple slices. Sprinkle the shredded coconut, dark chocolate chips, and chopped nuts over the top. Add the chia and hemp seeds if you like.
  • Serve immediately: Serve the apple nachos fresh to keep the apples from browning. You can add a squeeze of lemon juice to the apple slices before assembling them if you’re not serving them right away. Add the optional toppings if using them.

Notes

  • If you slice the apples ahead, be sure to toss them in lemon juice to prevent them turning brown.
  • Play around with toppings to make this recipe exciting for your little one.
  • If your child doesn’t like the look of cinnamon, leave it out – it will be just as delicious.

My Top Tips for Making this Apple Nacho Recipe

It’s honestly so simple. Having said that, here are my tips for best results:

  • Make a build-your-own setup: One of the best ways to get picky eaters excited about eating is to let them build their own plate. Lay out bowls of toppings for them to sprinkle over the apples.
  • Make it nut-free: Use sunflower seed butter if there’s a nut allergy.
  • Swap apples for pears: Some kids prefer juicy pears to crisp apples. This recipe works just as well with both.
